Positive Journeys

Campfires are one of the really enjoyable parts of the camping experience. The scent of wood smoke, the warm glow, hot marshmallows roasting over the coals and the accompanying trance we all seem to fall into when we watch the fire in the evening. Students become immersed in simple living, the rhythm of walking, being outdoors and obeserving nature, this might be the first time many of them will have lived without the constant presence of technology.

Our cameleers will be your guides, assiting students with a hands on experience of helping to prepare tasty camp oven meals over the fire. We provide nourishing main meals, healthy snacks and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. All of our flours and grains as well as much of the dairy used on camps is certified organic / bio-dynamic, teachers and students will eat well.

Animal husbandry including feeding, brushing, saddling, and general care.

History - Australian early explorers, Afghan Cameleers and Aboriginal Adnyamathanha people / The opening up of Australia's sparse interior.

Additonal extras including - Geology, Astronomy, Survival Skills, Map & Compass Navigation, Creative Writing, Drawing / Painting.

We work closely with teachers when planning camps, and once booked schools can feel completely at ease in organised hands that are committed to making your school camp postively memorable.

We are equipped with Satellite phones and UHF radio handsets. In the event of an emergency we can be in immediate contact with the station homestead, Hawker Hospital and Port Augusta Hospital emergency services. Many outback tourism businesses including Camel Treks Australia recommend the purchase of S.A Ambulance insurance cover. We are happy to provide school with S.A Ambulance cover as an additional extra.

We can happily accommodate teachers and students with dietary restrictions. We provide schools with student information forms and ask that we are notified at least one month prior to the camp to ensure that dietary needs are met throughout the trek.
